All subject to the below:

Our warranties are subject to the following conditions:
1. Our products are installed in accordance with our “Installation Instructions“.
2. Our products are maintained in accordance with our “Maintenance Instructions“.
3. Our Products are not subject to mis-use or neglect.
4. The Terms as Detailed below

A) TIMBER PROFILE WINDOWS
The timber content is a natural substance and no warranty can be or will be given by the Company that it will not be subject to movements from time to time. Such movement including shakes, splits, bead pin finish to be treated by the customer utilising either:-

Small gap filler from the Teknos Product range or

Large gap filler e.g. Metalux

“Brummer” Bead Pin Filler or similar

Movement between the seasons may result in a requirement for ironmongery adjustment.  For example Door Movement which interferes with the operation of the locking system can be corrected by using the “3” D Hinge adjustment on the “3” D Hinges provided or by adjustment on the concentric cams on the adjustable door keeps. This adjustment is clearly shown in the installation instructions. Bi Fold Doors can also be adjusted laterally. For example Flush Casement Sash Movement on sashes hung on butt hinges which interferes with the operation of the locking system can be corrected by removing one or more of the “butt Hinge” packers” fitted with the butt hinge. This adjustment is clearly shown in the installation instructions.

Any major timber movement which is detrimental to the operational characteristics of the window and cannot be resolved through ironmongery adjustment will be either repaired or replaced by the Company at its discretion as follows.

For a Period of 5 years after the invoice date of the supply, including materials only.

B) TIMBER PROFILE DOORSETS
The same terms as for windows above. In addition, doors may be subject to a degree of movement resulting in ‘sticking’ doors particularly during the winter months when the timber can ‘expand’ by taking on a certain degree of moisture. Tolerance ‘gaps’ are designed into the doors which usually prevent this.

Please note significant door movement and resulting ‘sticking doors’ can result from;

  • Excessively damp conditions – such as those experienced in new build conditions – and /or when there is no internal heating in the area of the doors during the winter months.
  • Failure to engage the Multipoint 3 point deadbolt locking system on a regular basis or engage the top and bottom bolts (with a centre mortise lock system) with the result that the compression gasket can cause the door to bow at the top and bottom.
  • Installation of Doors in a non – external location e.g. leading from a lounge to a Conservatory. The moisture content of our doors is set for external joinery use only in a heated building.
If the doors are located internally, the moisture content will be significantly reduced – which could result in warping and shrinkage of the doors. We do not recommend our doors are used in an internal location
  • Installation of Doors in an area of severe exposure. Areas of severe exposure should be identified on the customers order to us. We will then recommend aluminium externally beaded drainage beads and aluminium severe weather rated draft seals.
  • Installation of Doors in Non Heated Buildings. Eg. Unheated Garage. Our door sets should not be specified for these locations. Excessive movement will result as the door sets are designed to be located in heated buildings.
  • Movement resulting for the above 5 reasons is specifically excluded from this warranty.

  • The ironmongery has not been subject to misuse or neglect.
  • The ability of the ironmongery supplier to honour their warranty at the time of failure.
  • The quality brass component on door handles, if supplied, has been treated with clear lacquer after polishing in order to protect it from tarnishing. However this coating will not last indefinitely and in aggressive atmospheric conditions (eg. salt air, industrial pollution, etc ) may break down more quickly. You will help to prolong the life of the coating by regular washing with mild detergent solution and then applying a non-abrasive wax polish. Paint cleaner or similar abrasive cleaners will damage the coating and must not be used.

The Company will abide by any decision of the double glazed unit supplier for any liability under this section and the replacements of such units is subject to the warranty conditions of the unit supplier and the ability of that supplier to honour their warranty at the time of failure.

FACTORY FINISHED STAIN/PAINT SYSTEM

PROVIDED THE FACTORY HAS SUPPLIED FULLY FINISHED PRODUCTS, the following terms apply:-

  • FOLLOW OUR MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES. Factory finished frames must be re-coated with the relevant Teknos product (for stain or for Opaque finishes) on average every 3 to 5 years or sooner dependant upon a) the exposure of the frames to extreme weathering or industrial pollution and b) the stain shade. (Light stain finishes, eg.Cyprus, Afromosia , Light oak , require more regular / sooner maintenance than Darker Stains whilst Opaque Finishes give the longest protection cycle.
  • Extreme weathering which may require more frequent maintenance intervals includes a) open aspect locations and b) south facing external locations which require the higher degree of protection against ultra violet radiation) ,
  • Please inspect your coating system carefully form time to time to time to check for any significant deterioration in the coating system paying particular attention to certain horizontal components e.g. bottom beads and cills. This deterioration should be addressed immediately before the coating has a chance to flake.
  • Oak Species Timber Products in particular require frequent inspection and maintenance (at least annually if specified with a light stain). Otherwise movement and discolouration of the Timber Surface will occur.

H) INSTALLATION
The installation warranty, subject to the following conditions, is:
For a period of 10 years from the date of invoice only.
We want to make sure you are covered but we must also cover ourselves.  The conditions are;

Any issue or damage  caused to the windows or doors that are due to incorrect installation will be rectified or replaced by Glen Settle Windows.  If any work has been carried out by a third party that has lead to any issue causing the products to fail then the visit, survey  and repairs will be chargeable.  A site visit and survey will be carried out by Glen Settle Windows to determine if it is an installation error and a full report can be obtained.

RESIN EXUDATION.
Resin exudation from the timber is a natural phenomenon which can occur during the summer months when the heat forces resin to the surface of the timber. The resin can be removed, by the customer, as follows:

HARDENED (CRYSTALISED) RESIN
  • Scrape off with a chisel taking care not to damage surrounding stain/paint. Remove any remaining resin by de-nibbing (with a fine 300 grit sandpaper) the resin and the surrounding component area.
  • Wipe clean with white spirit on a rag – then re-apply top coats of relevant stain or paint to whole component if needed in order to blend in.
STICKY (SOFT) RESIN
  • Gently scrape off with a chisel taking care not to damage surrounding paintwork.
  • Clean off remainder with White spirit on a rag. Re-stain the surface of whole component , if needed , to avoid colour variation.
SHADE VARIATION

Some initial shade variation will occur on all translucent stained timber products – due to inter alia shade variation within the timber itself; See our Shade Variation Data Sheet for full details. Subsequently due to weathering, there can be further shade variation over a period of time e.g. the effects of ultraviolet light on the southern elevation and weathering on all elevations.
